 The George Washington University Educational Leadership and Administration degrees are designed to develop educator leaders who will have a positive impact on classrooms, schools, communities, and business settings.
Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration
The Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration program is a 33-credit program consisting of nine courses of three credits each and one course of six credits. The program is designed to give those wishing to become senior administrators the detailed knowledge they need in core areas such as curriculum development, personnel issues, school finance, managing school community relations and public law to be effective in the top jobs in the school system.
Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration
The Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration is a 30-credit post-master's degree consisting of eight courses of three credits each and one course of six credits. The program will provide education personnel at the elementary, secondary, and central-office levels added expertise in the field of administration. The degree can also provide educators with an opportunity to meet state licensing requirements for principal, assistant principal, and instructional supervisory positions.
The programs are structured as follows:
- Six start dates per yeartwo per semester; spring, summer and fall
- Eight to nine, three-credit, seven-week seminars and one, six-credit internship
- The program can be completed in less than two years
- Cohort system of approximately 20 students who move through the program with you
- Online, asynchronous curricular activities included discussions, papers, projects, reports, case studies and workplace-oriented assignments
